Here’s Pixel’s story…
Pixel came into our care after we were alerted to a young, unneutered male roaming a local village. He was not microchipped, in a very poor condition and significantly underweight. Despite his young age, it was clear that life on the streets had already taken its toll.
Concerned local residents told us that Pixel was travelling considerable distances in search of food, regularly crossing busy roads - a danger we sadly see all too often.
Once safely in our care, Pixel was neutered, flea and worm treated, microchipped and received his first vaccination. 💉
For the first few days, he did little more than sleep, finally able to relax in the safety and comfort he’d been missing.
Pixel is a wonderfully friendly, affectionate and playful young boy. Like many cats who have had to fend for themselves, he can become a little overzealous at mealtimes. After experiencing the uncertainty of finding food each day, it’s a behaviour we completely understand and one that is already improving now that he knows his next meal is guaranteed.
Before he came into our care, a kind local family had been feeding Pixel. They already had cats of their own, and although Pixel was often absent for days at a time—suggesting he was covering many miles in search of food—he was seen happily eating alongside one of their cats without any issues. Unfortunately, their other resident cat had taken an immediate dislike to him, meaning it wasn’t possible for him to remain there.
We believe Pixel could happily live with another friendly cat or a calm, cat-savvy dog, provided introductions are carried out slowly and carefully. He will need time to settle into his new home before any introductions begin, with scent swapping and gradual integration forming part of the process.
Pixel is a very large cat with a long frame and enormous paws. Even when he was underweight, he was a substantial boy! Although he is a true gentle giant, we feel he would be best suited to a home with older children who understand how to interact respectfully with cats.
We’re so excited to watch Pixel continue to flourish. He has so much love to give and will make an incredible companion for one very lucky person or family.
If you think you could offer Pixel the loving home he deserves, we’d be delighted to receive your preliminary application.
Please also note with the increase in cost of veterinary treatment we now require adopters to take out relevant insurance - we will provide more information during the adoption process. Every cat deserves the opportunity to be provided with the required veterinary treatment should they need it during times of illness or injury.
