Wednesday

Let us introduce you to Wednesday

Wednesday arrived in our care after being spotted and fed by a local residential home. She had birthed two kittens and by all accounts, this wasn’t her first litter. We needed to break this cycle.

Thankfully she and her two kittens were safely trapped, marking the start of their new lives. Her kittens went off for intensive socialisation and are being rehomed as a pair.

Wednesday was soon spayed and since then we’ve been working to try and gain her trust. She has come on so hugely in the months she’s been in our care, however we really do feel she deserves the chance to have her own home.

Wednesday is a challenging cat in the sense it’s so hard for us to work out where she would be best placed. Whilst she doesn’t yet want any human touch, as her videos will show she does enjoy human interaction - certainly when there is food and play involved! We don’t want to resign her to a life outdoors as we do feel given substantial time, she may come round far more than we could ever imagine.

Please be mindful, however, that Wednesday is not going to come round overnight. She needs months of trust building to see how far she can truly settle. There is no guarantee she will ever be a lap cat, we just don’t know how far she’ll allow herself to acclimatise. All we know is she has completely settled in the time she’s been with us, is in a structured routine and is very comfortable with human presence. She just needs time, patience, love and understanding.

Wednesday will initially need her own room, most likely for a good few weeks, potentially months, giving her new owner/s the ability to forge those bonds and try and begin the trust process. She has only had a small foster space so access to a full home will be beyond overwhelming and she will inevitably hide away in fear. If she hides, she won’t want to come out so forging those bonds will be ever harder to achieve.

With Wednesday, it really will be a slow and steady operation and tiny pockets of space being opened up at a time, trying to minimise overwhelm.

Alternatively, dependent on provision, we may consider an outbuilding home, for example a converted summerhouse full of all her favourite towers, toys and home comforts where she can settle and acclimatise before being given wider access to the outdoors. This setup would need to remain hers on a permanent basis, unless of course over time she made her way into the home to settle. Whatever happens, she needs to have a permanent warm and dry space to access at all times, where she feels safe and secure.

We understand finding Wednesday’s forever home won’t be easy, however we are true believers there is a home for every cat we have in branch, it’s just our job to find it.

Could you open your heart and home to this beautiful soul who truly deserves a chance? If so, please complete our adoption form.

Please note with the increase in cost of veterinary treatment we now require adopters to take out relevant insurance - we will provide more information during the adoption process.
